Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackI have never been a big fan of sports scholarships either, however, it is up to the school to do what they want. They see it as an opportunity for publicity.
As for you, there are tons of academic scholarships that get unclaimed every year. Find them.

I never have agreed with athletic scholarships.
Scholarships are to provide a higher education to the
intellectually talented that cannot afford the price of
university.
The majority of athletic scholarships are a waste of
time & money. Most of these people do not have the
mental ability to achieve a scholarship in any field of
study. They will exit the four year college program
with the same inability to read, write or speak on
much more than the fifth grade level they entered with.
If sports is ALL they’ve got going for them, let them go play
professionally.
If it’s NOT, then they should be able to garner scholarships
for REAL educational purposes…
and STILL play college sports…
as long as their grades permit!!
The day a players grades begin to dip, that player should
be both cut from the team and have their scholarship funds
revoked.

I feel that there should be education for everyone. Its not only that people good in sports should get education. I believe everyone should get an opportunity of getting educated. The poor should not be left. I feel that they should definitely get free education. Government should take steps to ensure that everyone is educated. As for individuals like me, we can join the United Nations campaign to end poverty by 2015 . One of its major goals is providing Universal Primary Education. As for sportsmen, if they are not financially sound then why not?
